Young people suffering from trauma or physical/sexual abuse have experienced many different types of painful, frightening events which may be causing them to have problems in their thinking, feeling and behavior. The Trauma-Focused therapy we offer provides young people (children through adolescents) with a safe, caring space to process these traumatic events; learn healthy ways to cope with stress and negative feelings; and increase their sense of control and ability to manage adversity.
The best way for healing to occur for our youth is when all family members are able to be supportive. We will assist non-offending parents/guardians/caregivers/family members with learning how they can educate themselves about child development; understanding how to provide a positive and supportive environment for their children; as well as continue to provide assistance and support to the family during this time.
Our child advocacy program assists both youth and families in connecting to local resources while assuring that each child's individual needs remain central in decisions made regarding their treatment. We also work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies supporting children throughout the recovery/healing process.
There are children who have problem sex behaviors. These kids need a compassionate way to receive special help. We offer assessments, education and proven therapies to deal with the behavior as well as support healthy growth of the kid and support for their family.
We also work closely with teachers, medical providers, police departments, social services professionals and other community organizations through consultations/assistance providing Trauma-Informed Care and Child Protective Services (CPS) support.
Preventing Abuse and Strengthening Families is critical. As such we offer educational materials and awareness programs that promote child safety and healthy relationship skills for both families and professionals regarding trauma-informed practice.
Children’s Response Center provides services for:
Children's responses to traumatic events vary greatly; therefore, our organization provides an individually tailored treatment plan for each child based upon their particular experiences, strengths, and needs.
Our organization's treatment model includes:
• Building a relationship of trust with children by providing them with caring services
• Providing the children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can feel comfortable in their presence
• Supporting and strengthening the children's relationships with their families
• Promoting healthy emotional development in children.
• Promoting resiliency in children and supporting them in developing the ability to heal from traumatic events over time.
• Collaborating with other organizations within the community (community partnerships)
Compassion is at the center of our practice. Our licensed therapists help children and their families find their way through challenging times with a caring, empathetic approach.
Each of our programs were developed by considering how traumatic events affect a child's social-emotional and psychological development.
Families are key partners in the recovery process; we collaborate with parents and caregivers to build supportive family environments that allow children to grow.
We work with local school districts, medical providers, advocacy groups for victims of crime and other community-based agencies to develop comprehensive services for each child.
Our licensed therapist team consists of Washington State Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSWs) who deliver high quality mental health care.
At children's response center, we are dedicated to providing caring, honest, and science-supported services that support the children and their families in moving toward the future with hope and confidence.
Regardless of whether you are looking for counseling, advocacy, education, or assistance, our goal is to provide the highest level of care possible to promote healing, strengthen relationships, and support long-term wellness.
